Whether the gathering is just a few DVDs or even a Vidiot collection of several hundred, start organizing with all the first movie. This will save the "where is always that movie? It was below yesterday" adventure of experiencing them all. The bigger the range the easier it's to lose one inside the rest of the bunch. Decide whether the range will be organized by genre, alphabetically or simply just by number. The decision to begin using these or some other category will be up to the property owner.

* The simple number strategy is just that. Label the 3X5 cards in teams of ten. 1-10, 11-20, 21-30 and the sequence proceeds. Use a notebook or pad of some sort to match the movie for the number. Don't lose the notebook or any other way to get rid of an afternoon has been seen. So prevent the embarrassment of spending more hours looking for a DVD than entertainment time with the family, girlfriend, dog or whomever.
