An esteemed tuner will usually test 'stock intake + stock tune' v 'mod consumption + stock tune w/ only MAF Lambda' to assure its not ignition/timing/redline trickery from the tune and will also run 'stock intake + tune' vs 'mod consumption + tune' to show the movement gains are actual when all the ignition/timing/redline tricks are applied. Going via a tuner that goes to that extent in layout and testing indicates you are commonly having a significantly larger high quality portion and having to pay a great deal much more for that top quality though.
