Shearing display at Jondaryan Woolshed

Queensland's oldest operating woolshed, the Jondaryan Woolshed has undergone a $2 million refurbishment within the Queensland Heritage Trails Network, to ensure that its 143-years history is going to be accessible for generations to come.

Built in 1859, this living tribute towards the Darling Downs' magnificent pastoral industry is the only significant remaining portion of one with the earliest and largest pastoral enterprises around the Downs.

The QHTN funding continues to be used for essential structural stabilisation. The romantic character with the woolshed has been retained, and cutting edge technology educates the visitor about the woolshed's special qualities, the development with the Jondaryan Station along with the township itself.

The western wing has been upgraded being a flexible theatre space for several activities including shearing demonstrations, film viewing, education and dances.

The most magical part of the Jondaryan Woolshed experience could be the wide open spaces and unspoiled natural environment. Step back for the beginnings of our own pastoral era - watch sheep being shorn, sheep dogs at the office, sample the freshly baked damper, have a ride with a horse-drawn cart or have a picnic to nibble on under the shady trees.

This amazing complex comprises historic buildings, such as the timber slab woolshed, machinery, equipment and collections restored within the last quarter of your century.
